Fast Track Masonry Construction
Wordco specializes in
Fast-Track commercial Masonry construction.
Fast-tracking streamlines permitting and
construction so that custom buildings can
be built, occupied and operational in as
little as six months. It is a scheduling
process in which design and construction
activities overlap. Wordco, Inc. has recently
shifted focus to working with big-box retail
developments (Walmart, Best Buy, Lowe's,
Home Depot, K-Mart, etc.) With our expedited
building methods and state of the art scaffolding
system, any one of our normal 200,000 sq.
ft. projects can be substantially completed
in 5-6 weeks. The benefit for our client
is earlier project completion, which enables
quicker store occupation and a reduction
of owner interim financing cost.
Quality
Assurance Program / Thermal
Imaging
WordCo has recently taken the initiative
to implement its own in-house quality assurance
progra, including infrared thermography.
Headed by Simeon Cardwell, WordCo's dedicated
Quality Assurance
Team goes the extra mile
to maintain the quality of work their clients
have come to expect. This level of attention
saves the company time and money by treating
problems quickly and efficiently. Utilizing
the latest technology (infrared
cameras, digital photography, advanced
software) and full-time skilled inspectors,
the inspection process never stops. Thermal
imaging using infrared cameras also
provide a cheap and effective means of non-destructive
testing to assure our customers are getting
exactly what they pay for. Our testers provide
high quality infrared images to our masons
several times during the building process
to assure correct placement of concrete
and reinforcement. Benefits of this innovative
system include:
-Immediate response to arising problems, eliminating costly repairs.
-Unparalleled documentation of jobsite status throughout building process.
-Peace of mind for clients who need the job done right the first time.
Wordco has over 25 years experience in
this type of construction. During that time
we have become a trusted leader by producing
timely results with a level of quality unparalleled
in our industry. Our commitment to quality
and innovation is evident in everyone of
our building projects. As a masonry contractor,
we work closely with the general contractors
to assure this for their clients, including
these retailers and various other retail
shopping facilities.
Rebar Positioners
Traditional rebar positioners
sit on top of the block, relying on the
weight of the next block and the strength
of the mortar joint to keep the rebar in
position. If the rebar is indeed not centered
in the cell before placing the positioner,
these positioners are useless at correcting
the mistake, leaving broken mortar joints
and frustrated masons. Wordco has created a new rebar positioner that they use and offer to other masonry contractors as well.
Masonry Homes
Are you considering building a new home?
If so consider masonry as the material of
choice for your new dwelling. Homebuilders
all over the world have chosen masonry for
a sound, solid investment that won’t
blow away in the first windstorm. True concrete
masonry is recognized universally as a superior
building material.
When planning a home the
biggest challenge isn’t picking a
house plan, but making sure you get the
sound structure you expect. Masonry is a
proven method of homebuilding. Building
codes have included masonry construction
for years. Experience shows that masonry
offers all the quality and variety expected
in the best homes, combined with unbeatable
strength and protection.
While owners of wood-frame houses battle termites, severe weather, and even fire, owners of concrete housing remain relatively carefree. Here’s why: The exterior walls and foundation system of masonry homes are bound together in one solid unit with concrete and reinforcing steel. Compare that to wood-frame homes where each piece must be individually fitted together. Statistically, homes built with block have a natural strength of approximately 400 lbs. per running foot, as compared to wood frame strength of approximately 80 lbs. per running foot. The sheer weight and thickness of concrete makes it possible to resist the brutal forces of nature.
Concrete masonry is non-combustible, meaning it does not add fuel to a fire. Therefore, it provides a high degree of fire safety. When fires in southern California laid waste to complete neighborhoods, concrete homes survived virtually unscathed. Fire safety is one major reason insurance premiums are considerably lower for non-combustible concrete block homes than for wood-frame homes.
Warm and Inviting

When most people think of masonry homes, they imagine drab block walls and cold concrete floors. That idea couldn’t be farther from the truth. Utilizing the most innovative advancements available to today’s home engineers, we truly turn concrete and masonry into a medium for beautiful design. Drab walls? Hardly. The creative possibilities are endless, using the wall covering of your choice; masonry homes offer the capacity to create the home you’ve always dreamed of.
This home incorporates the design elements to luxuriously accommodate your family, as well as the structural stability to last well into the next millennium. What could be a better investment for you and your family, than a home offering comfort and beauty paired with the long-lasting quality of
masonry construction?

In our project we chose to use a concrete floor. The patterns that you see were first scored into the concrete, then using a multi step coating process with various tones of chemical stain, the floor was colored to produce an aged effect. This finish can be used on any concrete slab. We opted to use this type of flooring because we considered it to be better looking, and more durable than conventional flooring, but surprisingly we found it to be less expensive as well. Some of the benefits we found in this type of flooring were: The floor is easier to clean and maintain, it will preserve its beauty for years to come by resisting
stains and wear in high traffic areas, and the overall convenience of its installation. These floors are beautiful as well as practical. We also offer carpet, wood, tile, and other flooring options to provide a wider range of products for our clients.
