WordCo is again pushing
the envelope of commercial masonry construction
with its newest innovation, a revolutionary
new design in rebar positioners. Traditionally,
these positioners have been installed in
masonry cells where rebar is used as vertical
reinforcement for the purpose of keeping
the rebar in the most effective position
inside the grouted cell. Rebar positioners
are required by ACI530 and UBC codes for
reinforced masonry. Company Vice President
Dean Crowell was not convinced that the
current positioner on the market was very
effective in doing this. Frustrated, he
turned his energy to coming up with a better
design. So simple and effective are the
changes in fact that it will leave you thinking
"why hasn't someone thought of it before?"

Double Positioner
Traditional rebar positioners
sit on top of the block, relying on the
weight of the next block and the strength
of the mortar joint to keep the rebar in
position. If the rebar is indeed not centered
in the cell before placing the positioner,
these positioners are useless at correcting
the mistake, leaving broken mortar joints
and frustrated masons.
WordCo's idea is an inset positioner designed
specifically to fit INSIDE the block to
keep the rebar from moving from the center
of the block cell, relieving stress from
the mortar joint.
Available in many standard sizes for 8"
or 12" masonry walls. Contact Shannon
Crowell for detailed spec sheets and
more information.
